7.00pm BBC National Orchestra of Wales
Elena Schwarz Conductor Eric Lu Pianist
Mills Landsker (World Premiere)
Chopin Piano Concerto No 2
Beethoven Symphony No 6
The concert by one of the world’s finest orchestras will include a first visit to St Davids by Eric Lu, winner of the Leeds International Piano competition and the first performance of a new work by Pembrokeshire composer Alex Mills, inspired by the Landsker Line: an invisible boundary that historically divided Welsh and English-speaking Pembrokeshire and their associated customs and culture. The boundary began in the St Davids area and extended south to Amroth and on to Laugharne in Carmarthenshire. It’s marked by a chain of castles and strongholds built by the Normans and Flemish in the 12th century.
