The St Davids Cathedral Festival has been bringing music to the heart of West Wales for over forty years. In 2020, our 42nd festival will bring a feast of classical and contemporary music, featuring concerts and performances from internationally renowned artists and local favourites. The festival takes place during the Spring Bank Holiday week at the end of May, when the Cathedral becomes a hive of musical activity under the artistic direction of Oliver Waterer, the Organist and Master of the Choristers.
The perfect acoustic and stunning architecture of the Nave, including its unique sixteenth century oak ceiling, provide a concert venue unrivalled in Wales. The style of the concerts is extremely varied; in addition to both early and late evening concerts featuring top professionals (soloists, chamber music ensembles, choral, jazz and orchestral groups), there are also a series of afternoon recitals in which young musicians are offered a platform. The Festival also has an established educational outreach programme which gives local school children the opportunity to perform.
The Festival has a strong reputation for excellence and has made a substantial contribution to the cultural life of West Wales. With appearances from some of the finest musical artists in the Britain, it has built up a reputation as one of the greatest classical music festivals in Wales.
The 2020 St Davids Cathedral Festival will run from Friday 22nd May – Sunday 31st May. For information on how to book tickets, please see the bookings page.
